Today marks the beginning of a special year for Loreto: the opening of the Holy Door signals the start of the Lauretan Jubilee, coinciding with the centenary of the proclamation of the Madonna of Loreto as the patroness of aeronauts.

Over the next twelve months, the gift of plenary indulgence will be granted to penitent faithful at the Basilica of the Holy House and in chapels at all civil and military airports.

The Holy Door opened in Loreto will be the only Holy Door open in the world in 2020.
